A series of images show the NSW Premier laughing while walking alongside the Thor actor The pair appeared alongside federal Communications Minister Paul Fletcher and Arts Minister Don Harwin at Fox Studios in Sydney on Monday morning to reveal the latest instalment in the blockbuster Mad Max franchise will be filmed in NSW.The move is set to bring $350 million to the economy while creating 850 local jobs, making it the biggest film ever made in NSW.Hemsworth will star in the prequel to Mad Max: Fury Road and described it as an “incredible opportunity” and a “dream come true” to film such a blockbuster in Australia. Speaking to reporters on Monday, director George Miller applauded Australian film crews. “Australian film crews are some of the most talented and hardworking and dedicated you’ll ever find anywhere,” he said.The movie, titled Furiosa, will be filmed across the state, including in remote towns such as Broken Hill. Hemsworth will star in the film alongside Anya Taylor-Joy and Yahya Abdul Mateen II.Ms Berejiklian described securing the film as an “important win”.“NSW will be home to this major production providing a boost to the economy across the state with filming to take place in a number of locations including in western Sydney and regional NSW,” she said.Mr Harwin said attracting Furiosa to the state was a momentous moment for the local screen industry.“Everything about Furiosa is as thrilling as it sounds, and I know this major production will further cement NSW’s place as an extremely competitive film production powerhouse, for delivering high-end international productions,” he said.The decision was made after an investment from the $175m Made in NSW fund.
