“Father, Son, House of Gucci:” Every Epic Fashion Moment From The House of Gucci Trailer

OSTN Staff

Over the last five months, we’ve seen everything from fur-lined ski suits and cable knit sweaters to more-is-more wedding gowns make an appearance on the set of the forthcoming Ridley Scott film House Of Gucci. After seeing so many paparazzi images and snapshots from Lady Gaga’s Instagram, we had come to the conclusion that, by the time the trailer came out, we’d have seen everything there was to see fashion-wise from the movie, which won’t be out until November. And yet, by the grace of God Gucci, all our worries were assuaged on Thursday when MGM dropped the long-awaited trailer for the film that’s based on the 1995 assassination of Mauritzio Gucci (Adam Driver) by his ex-wife, Patricia Reggiani (Gaga), and proved to us how much more there was.

It was a mistake to underestimate the sheer volume of jaw-dropping ensembles worn by not just Gaga, but Driver and fellow Gucci-phile Jared Leto (who plays Paolo Gucci, another family member with a stake in the company). In the two-minute trailer, which has already garnered over 2 million views on YouTube, Gaga debuts nearly 20 different looks just herself, ranging from a red version of Reggiani’s bubblegum-pink bow-shoulder dress to a pink-and-black polka dot frock with ‘80s shoulder pads. Also included in the trailer was a red ski suit with a brown fur cap, a gold chainmail party dress, and a white, beaded halter worn with both diamonds and pearls.

But to discuss the looks without seeing them would be an injustice to costume designer Janty Yates, not to mention the house of Gucci itself. See every look in all their glory, ahead. But first, a prayer: “Father, son, and House of Gucci…”

Red Halter Dress & Fur Coat (0:02)

The look that first drew us into the two-minute fashion-frenzy of a trailer included a tan-colored fur coat, a striking red halter dress, and shades as large as the shade Reggiani threw at House of Gucci

Patrizia Reggiani’s 1972 Lace Wedding Dress (0:28)

Though many of Gaga’s looks from the film are near-exact replicas of Reggiani’s from the ‘70s and ‘80s, the gown from the wedding scene isn’t one of them. Both wore long-sleeved, yes, but Gaga’s version features a high-low hem, a sweetheart neckline, and lace sleeves, compared to Reggiani’s which was unadorned and featured a high-neck and a tapered waist. Both wore cathedral veils, though, with beehive updos.

Eyelet White Dress (0:38)

No one could tell Gaga she wasn’t dressed the part when she showed up wearing this white eyelet dress and jacket, held together by a chic black belt. Paolo’s pink, belted suit, though, was a different story.

Red Satin Bow-Sleeve Dress with Opera Gloves (0:57)

Yates appears to have swapped out Reggiani’s bubblegum pink satin dress with bow sleeves for a similar one in a more Gucci shade of red for the film.

Gold Chainmail Dress (0:59)

It might be time to “take out the trash” for the House of Gucci, but this gold chainmail dress better not be included.

Red Snowsuit (1:39)

Ethics aside, this is one hell of a chalet suit. In fact, it might just trump Gaga’s black-and-white slope-side ‘fit that she shared on Instagram in March.

Pink-and-Black Polka Dot Dress with Gold Chains (1:53)

The shoulder pads, chains, and cleavage aren’t the only trinity we’re taking away from this epic scene.

Like what you see? How about some more R29 goodness, right here?
