Top UFC heavyweight contender Derrick Lewis and undefeated Ciryl Gane will fight for the title of interim champion in the main event of UFC 265. The pay-per-view (PPV) event will be held in front of a full crowd at the Toyota Center in Houston, Texas, on August 7. The main card will stream exclusively on ESPN+ starting at 10 p.m. ET.

Lewis is a celebrated veteran known for his strikes, earning 20 knockouts in 25 career victories. Gane is undefeated through nine career fights, including two victories by decision in 2021. The winner between Lewis and Gane will be matched up against reigning champion Francis Ngannou, who won the belt in March.

Lewis defeated Ngannou by decision in July 2018, and was expected to fight the champion again at UFC 265 instead of Gane. However, contract negotiations with Ngannou fell short, leading UFC to book Lewis versus Gane as an interim champion fight. The organization still plans to reach an agreement for Ngannou to fight later this year.

The UFC 265 main card costs $70 and requires an ESPN+ subscription for $6 a month or $60 per year. ESPN is also offering a bundle price of $89.98 for UFC 265 and one year of ESPN+; a 30% discount.
