The host won’t be on air on Thursday while the funeral takes place for her 25-year-old nephew, who died suddenly in South Australia.Dunleavy and most of her family are unable to attend due to border closures and lockdowns and will be restricted to watching the service online.“I’ve heard your stories and I’ve sympathised with you, so I just wanted to explain that’s what’s happening with my family,’’ Dunleavy said on 3AW.“And I just want to say: please everybody, please, please, get your vaccination, because we can’t keep living like this.“Because this time it hurts too much.“Please, let’s do what we can so that we can open up our country and live again the way we should be living.”Dunleavy said she wanted to speak about her situation as so many listeners had shared their deeply personal struggles and family agony.“My nephew died a few weeks ago, he was only 25, he was a beautiful boy and we had no warning, no signs, nothing wrong, he was a good kid, no drugs, no drink, none of those things that would have given you a sign that anything was going to happen,’’ she said.“He lived in South Australia and my brother and sister-in-law lived in Queensland, so they had to go to South Australia and wait two weeks in quarantine til they were able to see his body and his funeral will take place (Thursday) and it will be online. “And the rest of the family will have to watch here — his cousins, his other aunties and uncles and his grandparents will watch from here. “His own brother will have to watch from Queensland, as will my sister. And I know that other people have suffered throughout lockdowns of various sorts in the different states.”
