Over the past few years, an increasing number of applications have started offering a dark mode in addition to the default light mode. Many Google apps now offer dark ways as well, including Google Chat. In this tutorial, I will show you how to enable dark mode in Google chat. The steps are straightforward to follow, and it will hardly take a minute to turn on the dark mode.
Enable Dark Mode Google Chat
Google Chats is a replacement for Hangouts, and it is an excellent app with many features. You can send messages to friends individually or in groups. You can even set up conferences and do a lot more. It has a default Light Mode, but you can easily change it. You no longer need any browser extension to get the dark mode. You can use the in-built dark mode feature and use any browser to do so. The Dark Mode feature doesn’t strain your eyes significantly if you intend to use it for long hours. Just follow the simple steps below and learn how to turn on dark mode:
Step-1: Open your preferred browser.
Step-2: Now open the Google Chat website using this link.
Step-3: If you used Google Chrome and are already signed into your Google account, Google Chats will be logged in automatically. However, if you are using a different browser, you will have to log in to your Google account. (I used Chrome, and I was already logged in to my Google account)
Step-4: Click on the Settings cog at the top right corner of the Google Chat window.
Step-5: A dialogue box will open up. Scroll down till you reach the Theme Settings section. Select Dark Mode.
Step-6: Select Done.
If you no longer want the Dark Mode settings, you can change it by following all of the above steps, but in Step-5, select Light Mode instead of Dark Mode.
