Deadline reported Garson had been battling cancer. Garson is best known for his role as Carrie Bradshaw’s friend Stanford Blatch in Sex and the City. He was set to reprise his character in the upcoming sequel, And Just Like That, which is currently in production in New York City.King said, “The Sex and the City family has lost one of its own. Our amazing Willie Garson.“His spirit and dedication to his craft was present everyday filming And Just Like That. He was there – giving us his all – even while he was sick.“His multitude of gifts as an actor and person will be missed by everyone. In this sad, dark moment, we are comforted by our memory of his joy and light.”Cynthia Nixon, who plays Miranda Hobbs in the series, paid tribute to her co-star.Kim Cattrall, who was in the original series but will not be appearing in the revival, also tweeted.Earlier this year Garson told Us Weekly of the new Sex and the City instalment, “These are not Sex and the City episodes. “These are And Just Like That episodes. … It’s an easy thing to talk about, you know — remake, reboot, they use all these horrible words — and for us, I don’t believe it’s either of those things.
