A Covid-positive freelance make-up artist, who had a one-day booking on the I’m A Celebrity set, flew into Ballina from Sydney last Saturday. She had an exemption to travel for work-related purposes and had a PCR test prior to travelling, but subsequently tested positive for Covid-19.A seven-day lockdown was imposed on the Tweed and Byron shires last Tuesday after it was discovered that the woman had visited several businesses. As a result of the drama, Byron mayor Michael Lyon revealed the council no longer supported Love Island, hosted by Sophie Monk, being filmed in the shire.I’m A Celebrity has finished filming while Love Island is days away from starting. Both are produced by ITV.The withdrawal of support by the Byron shire means the Channel 9 show must now be filmed in a tight 30-day window with no extension possible.“We acknowledge the Mayor’s comments and although disappointing we are planning to ensure Love Island production, which has not commenced filming, is completed within existing regulations to ensure the show is ready for our audiences,” a Channel 9 spokesperson said.“All productions are conducted in accordance with the strictest health and safety regulations, testing and isolation.”
