Byrne, who has made allegations of abuse against host Johnny Young, issued a defiant comment about the YTT Unmasked program, which aired on Sunday night. It largely featured singing superstars Tina Arena and Dannii Minogue, with Byrne taking aim at their involvement and then later deleting her comments.“I haven’t watched but by all my friends comments it seems Johnny Young took the opportunity to ask questions such as ‘was I a good boss?’,’’ she wrote on Facebook.“A slight on my claims of abuse perhaps?”Byrne added: “Johnny Young may believe he exonerated himself by asking the question “was I a good boss” (and) “ would you let your children be on the show”.“Tina and Danni answered ‘yes’.“Ask me, Johnny.”Byrne, who was a founding cast member of the 1970s variety show, hasn’t backed down from her claims. In 2014, the Logie award winner claimed she was sexually abused while working on the show during separate incidents in 1971 when she was a teenager, which left her “a very disturbed girl”. She raised more abuse allegations in April and July this year. She also posted and then deleted: “For Tina to suggest she was lucky she was protected while on YTT must also suggest I was unlucky. It has nothing to do with luck. It takes mindfulness, organisation, vigilance, intelligence, awareness and an understanding that wherever children gather there is likely to be an abuser. For me there were many.”Former YTT star John Bowles also took to Facebook to express his disappointment about not being contacted for the Network 10 special.“It makes me feel really sad. I just watched it and it’s such a devaluation,’’ he wrote.Others shared his sentiment and were disappointed there wasn’t a tribute to Julie Ryles, as well as Juanita Coco. One wrote: “I was so underwhelmed. So many people who contributed just ignored. Unfortunately it is what I expected, not a true celebration of the show”.Another wrote: “We just kept seeing the same team members over and over. And this is no reflection of my love for Tina and respect for Danni, but sadly most of Australia didn’t get to experience a proper reunion”.
