It was slightly down on the 2020 Grand Finale which attracted 1.23 million viewers, with a capital city audience of 915,000, as Neighbours star Bonnie Anderson was revealed as the Bushranger. The show not only unmasked a national total average audience of 951,000 viewers, but more than 34 million minutes were viewed on 10 Play, up 37 per cent from 2020. Its BVOD audience also jumped 64 per cent compared to 2020.The Masked Singer Australia trended in the top 3 on Twitter for every reveal, and achieved 23.6 million total impressions on Facebook, Instagram and Twitter, along with 1.7 million total TikTok views. The final episode clearly beat SAS Australia which saw the remaining five recruits get fast and furious drawing 843,000 nationally (614,000 in the capital cities) The Block remains on top of the reality ratings battle with 1.19 million viewers continuing to tune in nationally (893,000 in the capital cities). There were hardly any surprised viewers when Anastacia was revealed – after delivering a powerhouse performance of Live and Let Die – as the winner of the third season of The Masked Singer. Most had already tipped the I’m Outta Love singer from early on with her distinct sound rather easy to pick. Dannii Minogue and Jackie O correctly guessing the US mega pop star, whole Hughesy stuck with Shakira and Carlson went with Sheryl Crow.Anastacia posted on her Instagram “Surrrrrrprise everyone!!! I can finally tell you the secret ive been keeping from ya for a while now. Anastacia aka me aka Vampire was a contestant on The Masked Singer.” Em Rusciano, who social media had been suggesting from early on was behind the perfectly pink Dolly, cheekily tweeted after her reveal. “So, what DID I miss? Who was Dolly?” A long time follower and expert social media guesser Leon Sjogren tweeted “Finally tonight, after three long years, @Em Rusciano can finally rest easy knowing she won’t be harassed by idiots like me every time The Masked Singer is back on TV.”Axle Whitehead – perhaps the least know celeb in the final – after his reveal as the man behind the Mullet posted on Instagram.“Cat’s outta the bag. What a blast!!! Thanks to the cast and crew of an incredible show. Most fun I’ve had.” In other good news, Hughesy shaved his dirty mo he had been sporting since filming the bonkers reality show, posting the results to Instagram, captioning the pic “even though the amazing @anastaciamusic loved it. the Mo has left the building.” While on SAS Australia, The final five recruits each got behind the wheel for a high octane, high adrenaline exercise, designed to test their ability under pressure. The tactical driving mission saw recruits drive a VIP, DS Billy Billingham, through simulated hostile territory to a safe location.Dan Ewing was the only one who decided not to drive through the barrier, failing the task, before going on to try and justify the error to his fellow recruits who had all passed the test.Questioning his integrity, the DS brought Dan into the Mirror Room, where Foxy pressed him on his inability to own up to his mistakes, saying: “What I saw and heard was you trying to bullsh*t your way out of it because you were embarrassed that you were the only one to reverse out.”Dan’s denials continued, infuriating Billy who screamed at him to stop trying to back out of it.“We all make mistakes but we admit them,” said Billy. “The big key is integrity. You had your f*cking chance, I told you got it wrong. Just take it on the chin. You stand taller by telling us, yeah I f*cked up.”As the only female recruit left on the course, Jana was brought in for questioning by the DS, who asked what’s stopping her from seeing herself at the top.“As a young person I was very vocal with my ability, and in our country that’s not always something that should be done,” responded Jana. “We like the underdog, we like the person to not be so outwardly confident in their discussions about themselves and I got hammered for that in the press, so now I down talk myself.”Chief Instructor Ant Middleton told Jana she’s a lioness, encouraging her to keep her spark, “We would like to see you at the end of the course, but that’s not a decision we make. Do not waiver,” he said.
