Keith Urban’s tour ‘postponed’

The country superstar was forced to reschedule his December concerts to same time, next year in 2022 because of ongoing uncertainty about mass gatherings and border closures.“The decision to postpone the tour was not made lightly, however the health and safety of fans, crew and venue staff remain the highest priority,” said a statement announcing the tour reschedule. There is bad news for fans of The Voice coach in Perth with those concerts unable to be rescheduled in 2022. Ironically, Urban’s opening act is the Perth rockers Birds of Tokyo who headlined the recent AFL Grand Final halftime show.Urban tends to book his Australian tours for December ahead of celebrating Christmas holidays with his and wife Nicole Kidman’s families.The tour will now kick off on December 1 on the Gold Coast and finish at Rod Laver Arena in Melbourne on December 17.Tame Impala, who were also due back in Australia in December announced last week that The Slow Rush tour had been rescheduled for the second time and will now go ahead in October 2022.They are currently touring the US with the band’s creative controller Kevin Parker also revealed as one of the collaborators on the much-anticipated new album Thank You from pop and soul legend Diana Ross.Beloved rockers Hoodoo Gurus have also had to shift their 40th anniversary concerts, with added musical goodness form American band Dandy Warhols, to April 2022.“Let’s face it, folks – 2021 is a write-off. We had high hopes earlier in the year that the pandemic would be behind us by now but … well, you know as well as I do,” the Gurus frontman Dave Faulkner said.“Delta skelter!, dashed hopes, spilt milk, whatever, we won’t let it break us. Stay strong, stay safe and stay put – we’ll get everything back on track in 2022. As the song says, all the good times we had we’ll have again. Believe it.” The good times are set to kick in big time in 2022 with Guns N’ Roses, Dua Lipa, Lorde and Billie Eilish among the superstars booking Australian dates.
