Australia facing a Santa shortage

Event photography business Scene to Believe hires more than 500 Santas nationally each year to pose with eager children wanting to be on the big man’s nice list. Jessica Vatoff from the company spoke on morning breakfast radio shows across Australia on Wednesday morning, sharing the sad news that the company was short of 100 Father Christmas doubles.“This year has been really tough with everything that’s going on,” she said. “All you need is a good ‘ho, ho, ho’ and a love for Christmas.“We have the best suits, we have the best bellies, we have the best beards, we supply everything, so you just have to have a great attitude.”Ms Vatoff said Covid-19 had impacted the shortfall. “There’s also more and more shopping centres and more and more kids that want to get their photo taken and we don‘t have enough Father Christmas’ around.”Those who are interested in spreading the Christmas cheer can contact Scene to Believe to participate. They will need to complete a working with children check and will be fitted with uniforms and complete training for the job. “You don’t need to have a big belly. We’ve got 6ft5 Santa’s and Santa’s who are skinny and Santa’s who are in their 20s,” Ms Vatoff said.
