Nintendo Switch Black Friday FAQs

How to shop for a Nintendo Switch and Switch games

There are three different versions of the Switch that you can buy. If you can find it in stock, we recommend choosing the $350 Switch OLED, the latest version of the console with an upgraded screen and other design improvements.

You can buy the $300 Mario Kart 8 Deluxe Switch bundle during Black Friday to save about $70 on the price of the game and three months of Nintendo Switch online, so long as you’re happy with the older model. It has nearly identical battery life and performance to Switch OLED so you won’t be missing out on too much.

The $200 Switch Lite is handheld only so it’s best for households that already have another Switch or primary gaming device. Unlike the standard Switch, Switch Lite doesn’t come with wireless Joy-Con controllers and can’t connect to your TV.

Games for Nintendo can be purchased digitally or physically from multiple retailers. Physical games come on cartridges that are inserted directly into the Switch, while digital purchases provide a download code for the Nintendo eShop. Physical copies occasionally go on sale for less than the digital, and often require less storage space.

However, the Switch can store dozens of digital games with its internal memory and MicroSD card slot, eliminating the need to carry and swap physical cartridges when changing games.
