The enigmatic federal MP had scheduled a meeting at the Tamworth Hotel on Sunday but the Member for Kennedy was unable to present his vaccine passport and was refused entry.Mr Katter insists he is vaccinated and supports the effectiveness of the jab.But he has repeatedly condemned government mandates, which the Queenslander believes are “un-Australian”.“I’ve had both of my Covid vaccinations but I don’t have a smart phone so I can’t check-in using the state government app but I did give them options to verify,” he said in a statement on Monday morning.“However, the local media and police was called. “This is un-Australian. We have a right to associate and assemble.“Full praise to the local police officer carrying out their duties in a very respectful manner.”Despite the Kennedy MP’s support for vaccines, Mr Katter has addressed freedom rallies in recent weeks to voice his fury at jab mandates.“Freedom should be honoured and fought for, not spat upon as the premiers of Queensland and Victoria have done,” he told a rally recently. “I warn the government to be prepared.”NSW Police confirmed to NCA NewsWire officers were called to the Tamworth Hotel on Sunday after Mr Katter’s associates left the pub and were drinking on the street in an alcohol-free zone.“Police attended and gave a warning to some members of the group about drinking in the alcohol-free zone and they complied,” the spokeswoman said.“No further police action will be taken.”
