Director Ridley Scott’s new historical drama, “The Last Duel,” is now available to stream at home. The movie’s digital release comes less than two months after its theatrical debut on October 15. Scott is best known for directing big-budget epics like “Gladiator” and sci-fi classics like “Alien” and “Blade Runner.”
“The Last Duel” is based on the 2004 novel by Eric Jager, which itself was inspired by real events. The movie takes place in 14th century France, and focuses on a knight, Jean (Matt Damon), who challenges a squire, Jacques (Adam Driver), to a deadly duel after Jacques is accused of raping Jean’s wife (Jodie Comer).
Though the film failed at the box office, it received critical acclaim. “The Last Duel” currently holds an “85% Certified Fresh” rating on review aggregation website Rotten Tomatoes, based on 254 reviews.
Director Ridley Scott already has another movie playing in theaters, “House of Gucci,” which is faring better at the box office. A home video release date has not been announced for “House of Gucci” yet.
