Anti-vaxxers slammed over false domestic violence claims

Gabrielle Williams publicly lashed a “deplorable” misinformation campaign claiming unvaccinated people are being denied family violence support. The campaign is targeting The Orange Door, a statewide service available to anyone at risk of harm. Ms Williams said the service was being bombarded with false accusations, which takes away from people in crisis and potentially endangers others. “There is currently a misinformation campaign circulating on socials and targeting family violence service providers. It claims unvaccinated people are being denied help. This is incorrect and extremely dangerous,” Ms Williams wrote on Twitter. “Deliberately bombarding FV (family violence) services with false accusations ties up time best spent meeting the needs of people in crisis. This campaign is deplorable and puts lives at risk. “To be clear, the Orange Door will assist ANYONE experiencing FV.”The misinformation campaign appears to surround an online post in which a woman fleeing domestic abuse in the Shepparton area claimed she and her two children were denied temporary accommodation based on her vaccine status. It has been widely shared by prominent anti-vaccine groups.
