- Amex Offers** are a great way to save money on purchases you planned to make anyway.
- All American Express cards come with Amex Offers — and the offers vary depending on which card you have.
- I’ve saved several hundred dollars this year with little effort thanks to these offers.
- Eligibility for these offers is limited. Enrollment is required in the Amex Offers section of your account before redeeming.
- Read Insider’s guide to the best American Express cards.
Every American Express card has a superpower that has gone unmatched by every other card issuer: Amex Offers.
Amex Offers are targeted statement credits that help you save on purchases you’d make anyway. For example:
- You may get a $50 statement credit when spending $150 at a specific hotel brand
- You may get 2 bonus points per dollar when you make purchases from a specific merchant
- You may get 10% back when you buy from a specific merchant
There are hundreds of varying Amex Offers at any given time — although individual offers are targeted to each cardholder and even specific cards. Once you add the offers to your card from your online American Express account, they’ll automatically activate when you meet the offer requirements.
I’m far from an Amex Offers power user, and even I can offset many credit card annual fees simply by adding a few offers here and there. This is what you can save with even casual use.
Amex Offers from 4 cards saved me almost $700

This is actually pretty meager — I let a lot of deals pass me by this year. I expect to save significantly more than that next year.
But if I saved the same amount in 2022, my
Here are the statement credits I’ll use for certain next year. These are different from Amex Offers (enrollment is required for some benefits):
- Up to $200 in Uber Cash each calendar year (I use this for free food with Uber Eats)
- Up to $200 in airline fee credits** each calendar year (anyone who travels a couple of times per year can use this)
- Up to $200 in credits per year toward prepaid hotel bookings through Amex Fine Hotels and Resorts or The Hotel Collection (if you pay for a nice hotel even once per year, this is as good as cash)
- $179 per year in credits for CLEAR membership** (this lets you input your fingerprints into a kiosk to completely skip the TSA security line)
That’s over $750 in legitimate savings — I’ll be $300+ ahead of my annual fee by using these benefits. This leaves me to enjoy the many other card benefits, like up to $100 in Saks Fifth Avenue credits** each calendar year, and unmatched airport lounge membership (including Amex Centurion Lounge access), without that large annual fee nagging at me.

Marriott Bonvoy Business Card
The
With all the great shopping and travel deals going on at the moment, I expect to save a lot more by the end of the year. This card tends to have the most lucrative Amex Offers of all my cards — and I find it’s worth paying the annual fee for that reason alone.
The card also comes with benefits like:
- An annual free night award each year (worth up to 35,000 Marriott points) after your account anniversary
- A second free night award (worth up to 35,000 points) after spending $60,000+ in a calendar year
- 15 elite night credits each calendar year
Insider estimates Marriott points value to be 0.7 cents each. That means these free night awards are worth an average of $245. You can read our Marriott Bonvoy Business review to see if the card fits your lifestyle. It’s a small-business credit card so you must have a for-profit venture to qualify. But that can include things like Uber driving, DoorDash delivery, babysitting, etc.

Marriott Bonvoy Card (not available to new applicants)
The Amex Marriott Bonvoy card is a legacy credit card that was issued to cardholders of the old Starwood Preferred Guest American Express card. It comes with a $95 annual fee — but Amex Offers have provided me with more than double that value.
Apart from Amex Offers, I really only keep the card for one reason: It comes with a free night award worth up to 35,000 points after each cardmember anniversary. Again, this free night is worth $245, per Insider’s estimations. Easily worth the annual fee by itself.

I don’t often see Amex Offers that serve my lifestyle with this card. Still, $60 in savings this year isn’t too bad.
This card also comes with:
- $100 flight credit when you spend $10,000 or more in a calendar year
- Priority boarding on Delta flights
- 20% off inflight purchases as a statement credit

Bottom line
Other banks have tried to emulate Amex Offers; Chase publishes Chase Offers; Citi issues Citi Merchant Offers; Capital one publishes Capital One Offers. None have the high-octane savings of Amex Offers.

I’ve saved a significant amount of money this year without effort. If I achieved this kind of savings without religiously checking offers every week, imagine the savings if I put in a little more elbow grease!
If you want to save a lot on Amex Offers, bookmark Insider’s Amex Offers page. Insider keeps the best offers up to date so you don’t have to rifle through your online account continually. I’ve done just that, and I expect to save loads next year.
