Garayeli posted a message about the break-up in an Instagram story early on Sunday morning, shocking fans. But Blurton has since revealed the post was just as much of a shock to her, saying she understood the news would remain private.“I just want to say right now I’m finding this really quite overwhelming and just as surprising to me as you guys,” she wrote in her own Instagram story. “I just woke up to the news. It was definitely agreed to part ways. I just wanted to do it privately amicably and respectfully. This is not how and what I expected to be doing right now so as you can imagine, this is all a lot.”The message was also posted on Instagram stories with white writing on a black backdrop.Only hours earlier, Darvid posted his own message.“Starting the new year off with an end to a chapter and hopefully the beginning of another,” Garayeli wrote. “Unfortunately Brooke and I have parted ways. While we genuinely thought we were each others (sic) person, things change and that’s okay.“Please respect our privacy and that at the end of the day we are both just people with feelings.”Darvid last posted a photo of Instagram five days ago, while Brooke’s last snap with her man was on December 14. Brooke broke in new ground as the first ever queer and indigenous Bachelorette. She also took to Instagram, but with a distinctly different message. “I’ve had by far the best birthday in a very long time thanks to loved ones and some special people. So I just wanted to thank everyone for those who have been on this wild ride of 2021 with me and enjoyed the ride that it’s been,” she posted just hours before Darvid announced the split. “I’ve loved, learnt, hurt and lived this year that‘s for sure.”Since leaving the show, drama has followed the pair. Brooke had been involved in a drawn-out public spat with former friend and Bachelor star Abbie Chatfield since last year’s Bachelorette final week.Early last month, Blurton sensationally slammed Chatfield on Instagram after previously watering down rumours of a feud between the pair. The Bachelorette star had invited Chatfield to feature as her “best friend” on the final episode of the Channel 10 dating show, which saw her give her final rose to Garayeli. But just hours before it aired, Blurton unfollowed Chatfield on Instagram after Chatfield debuted her new romance with one of the show’s earlier frontrunners, Konrad Bien-Stephens.In a series of interviews after the finale, Blurton insisted she hadn’t fallen out with Chatfield, instead claiming she was disappointed her relationship – which was outed by paparazzi a week earlier – “tainted” the ending of the show. She since confirmed the pair are no longer friends, taking to Instagram to slam Chatfield for displaying “narcissism,” while never actually mentioning her by name.“I’m not a hostile person and literally do not have any hate in my heart. I put my heart and soul into (the show). Not only that but for what it meant for the LGBTQIA+ and First Nations community to have that display of representation,” Blurton began.Chatfield has also apologised to Blurton for her actions.
