Fryer passed away in her sleep at her Glen Iris home on Thursday, January 6.Her husband, family and friends are shocked and devastated by her sudden and unexpected death.Fryer’s mother, Traci Hunter described her daughter as being loved by all who knew her.“She was the most wonderful daughter,” Ms Hunter said.“She had so much love and passion for life. She was a truly kind loving person, almost too good to be true – obviously she was too good to be true as she has been taken from us so early.”Fryer joined Neighbours in 1989 at the tender age of 18-months to play Sky Mangel, the young daughter of Joe Mangel, played by Mark Little, and Kerry Bishop, played by Linda Hartley.“She was only going to be on the show for six weeks,” Ms Hunter said.“The storyline was extended and she was the first child actor ever to be contracted to Neighbours. She was put on a contract for three years. “She loved Neighbours, she would be sitting in the green room and the producer would call out, ‘Miranda to the studio’ and she would run along ahead of me and open the door and trot out to the set.“She had so much fun on the show but when she was going to start school I really felt that it was not a good idea for her to continue as she deserved to have a childhood.”Fryer left the show in 1991. She attended primary school in Glen Iris and then went to Tintern Grammar in Ringwood. After finishing high school she completed a certificate in hospitality and an art diploma before deciding to study nursing. She completed a nursing degree with honours last year and was due to start work at Monash Clayton hospital in the neuroscience department on February 7.“She had even bought her Graduation Day tickets for the family to attend with her. We were really all so excited for her,” Ms Hunter said.“She has been so happy.”Fryer wed her long-time partner Arthur Pothitos on Aspendale beach in November 2020 and the couple had been looking forward to starting a family.Fryer, who has two brothers, Nigel and Jeremy, was a dedicated supporter of the Hawthorn Football Club.“Miranda was adored by everyone,” Ms Hunter said.“She just went to sleep and did not wake up. It is a terrible shock to us all.”fiona.byrne@news.com.au
