There are currently 2650 people in hospital with the virus, of whom 191 are in intensive care. The case numbers were down from 48,768 infections on Saturday and more than 63,000 on Friday.Of Sunday’s new cases, NSW Health says 13,682 were from rapid antigen tests – but 11,204 of those were from the previous seven days. NSW Health has also reinforced that the daily case numbers may not be an accurate depiction of the true number of cases because “there may be some cases included in these numbers where people have reported positive RATs on multiple days, and/or where people have also had a positive PCR test during the same reporting period”.Premier Dominic Perrottet on Saturday praised NSW residents and frontline workers for their efforts in dealing with the pandemic, insisting the state was “on the way out of this”. Mr Perrottet and chief health officer Dr Kerry Chant are expected to provide a more detailed update later today.Meanwhile, Victoria recorded 28,128 cases on Sunday.
