Life would seem to be getting back to normal for the Melbourne bar owner after his run-ins with the legal systems in WA and the Northern Territory over his devotion to the Melbourne Football Club. That will no doubt make it a sparkly knees up for his mates and society pals. The Great Gatsby, a novel by F Scott Fitzgerald, is of course synonymous with Jazz Age decadence and indulgence, and social class divides. Notably the book, and the 2013 film by Baz Luhrmann, play with issues such as inherited wealth versus self-made money.Burbank hits his half century milestone on April 8. The party is planned for the following night.Burbank has been busy at his Windsor bar Morris Jones since returning from Perth in late December following his ill-advised escapades in September to attend the AFL Grand Final in Western Australia.He cooled his heels in a Perth prison, with his mate Mark Babbage, for three months at the end of last year after the pair pleaded guilty to breaching Western Australia’s border rules to attend the AFL grand final. Last month, Burbank was sentenced in the Darwin Local Court to a six-month suspended prison term and a 12-month good behaviour bond after he pleaded guilty to four charges including obtaining benefit by deception.
