Windows 11 Taskbar

Windows 10 allowed users to change the position of the taskbar. Its predecessor allows this movement, but it is relatively limited. For example, in Windows 11, you cannot move the taskbar to the top of the screen by organic means. You can edit the Registry and get the desired results to achieve this. This tutorial will show you how to move the taskbar to the top of the screen in Windows 11 systems.

Before you edit the Registry, you should know that this is a very delicate task. If you haven’t used the editor before, I suggest that you create a system backup if something goes wrong. The best way to go about this is to create a system restore point before making changes in the Registry. After you have done this, follow the steps below:

Step-1: Open the Run box using the shortcut keys Win + R.

Step-2: Type regedit and press Enter.

Run Box

Step-3: A UAC prompt will show up and ask you, do you want this app to make changes to your device? Select Yes.

Step-4: Type the following pathway in the address bar at the top of the window and press Enter:

ComputerHKEY_CURRENT_USERSoftwareMicrosoftWindowsCurrentVersionExplorerStuckRects3

Step-5: Double-click the Settings key in the left pane.

Step-6: When the Edit Binary Value window opens up, do the following:

  •  Move to the second row
  •  Locate the 5th value from the left. (This is by default 03)
  •  Click to the right of 03 so that your cursor appears here
  •  Press backspace one and type 01 (You will be replacing the 03 to 01)
  •  Now press OK

Step-7: Restart Windows Explorer using Task Manager:

  •  Press shortcut keys Ctrl + Shift + Esc to open Task Manager
  •  In the Processes tab, locate Windows Explorer and right-click on it. Press Restart.
