The pier was built in 1952 and originally functioned as a steamship terminal before being converted into a base for the New York City Transit Authority’s depot. It had been closed since 2003 until its renovation.

The launch of the new office comes soon after the tech giant said it would start rolling out a hybrid-work model in the San Francisco bay area and other places from April 4. Workers should come in at least three days a week, but could also request to work from home permanently, the firm said.
