Nicholson said he thought reality stars joining OnlyFans for “empowerment” was “a load of crap” and that people should “donate to charity” if they want to feel empowered.During a fan Q&A on Instagram on Wednesday, the couple asserted that they would not be joining the subscription-only platform, which often features pornographic content, because they want to be “role models to future generations”.The discussion sparked a fiery response from radio presenter and feminist voice Abbie, who called their comments “sex work shaming” and hit back: “No one actually asked your thoughts of what the morality around Only Fans or sex work was.“This kind of felt like a vessel to speak about your dismissal of people who do OnlyFans.”The newly-announced Masked Singer judge, 26, said the couple’s claim that other reality stars “leverage fame to sell nudes online” was no different to how they went from The Bachelor to fully-fledged influencers.“Basically what you’re saying is ‘No judgment, but if you do this, not good, you’ve just leveraged off your reality TV experience’ – which is exactly what all of us have f**king done … We commodify content,” she said.“Obviously sex workers are very different in the way they are marginalised (and) the work that they do … I’m not saying influencers are the same as sex workers at all, but I’m saying in this regard, you saying your issue is that people are leveraging off their reality TV experience in order to make money … I don’t see how influencing in that regard is any different.”She explained: “I think promoting things like skin care and things you need to ingest and you have to trial out – that is literally using your body to sell a product.”“All you had to say was ‘Not for us but like all the power to you’,” she said.“Saying that it’s a ‘load of crap’ that it’s ‘female empowerment’ shows already the assumption that it’s ‘just the chicks from these reality shows going for a cash grab how dare they’.”She also pointed out that their comments failed to acknowledge their position of privilege. “People do sex work for lots of reasons and one of those reasons is to earn money to survive. It’s very ironic coming from influencers … and people who are pretty well off, who have gone to Sydney private schools and live in Bondi.”On Jimmy’s suggestion that people should donate to charity to feel empowered and “be a role model” to young fans, Abbie said the comment was delivered in a way that made charity work seem like the “antithesis” for sex work, as though sex work is to be apologised for.“To be a role model you don’t have to be ‘pious,’ you don’t have to be ‘a lady,’ you don’t have to be ‘classy’ … You can be a sex worker and be a role model, and you can be a non sex worker and be a complete f***ing Liberal voting piece of sh*t,” she shot at the 32-year-old pilot, whose luxurious Sydney northern beaches family home featured during his Bachelor season.Jimmy and Holly had taken to Instagram to address questions surrounding whether they would follow in the footsteps of MAFS couple Olivia Frazer and Jackson Lonie and join OnlyFans.“We get this question a lot and we figured now is a good time to just answer it once and for all,” Holly began. “No judgment towards anyone who does have OnlyFans, but I think there has been a little bit of a trend in people coming off reality shows and leveraging that degree of fame to then sell nudes online.”Jimmy then rubbished claims people join the platform for “female and male empowerment”.“I think that’s a load of crap, personally. She later revealed she had spoken to Jimmy on the phone and said he “sticks by his opinion”.“The tone of voice was what I imagine a dad getting you in trouble is like, but jokes on you because I’ve never had a dad so I don’t react to that stuff,” she joked of the conversation.Jimmy and Holly rose to fame after meeting on The Bachelor last year in what was the lowest-rating season in the franchise’s history.
