The Gateway Pundit readers have helped drive “The Letitia Files,” my recent articles and one by Sam Antar, about the questionable mortgage practices of NY Attorney General Letitia James into the national news and to the Department of Justice.

Last night, Laura Ingram on The Ingram Angle, featured an eight-minute segment that included an interview with esteemed George Washington University Law School professor and Fox News contributor Jonathan Turley. In the segment, Ingram and Turley recited numerous facts that were published on the Gateway Punit over the last two weeks that Gateway Pundit readers are familiar with.

The news of the day was Turley commenting extensively on a new criminal referral of Letitia James from the U.S. Federal Housing FHFA Constitution Center to U.S. Attorney General Pam Bondi and Deputy Attorney General Todd Blanche. A criminal referral (also known as a referral for prosecution) is a formal request or recommendation made by an individual, a government agency or legislative body asking la prosecutorial authority (like the Department of Justice) to investigate and potentially prosecute an individual for alleged criminal conduct.

The criminal referral of Letitia James was authored by William J. Pulte, Director of U.S. Federal Housing FHFA. In the referral, Pulte cites facts from the Sam Antar’s Letitia Files article Revealed: NY Attorney General Letitia James Declares Virginia Home Her ‘Principal Residence’, alleging that James had “falsified records” to get home loans for a property in Virginia that she claimed was her “principal residence” in 2023 – while still serving as a New York state prosecutor.

That occurred in late August 2023, weeks before James began her civil fraud trial against Donald Trump for overinflating the values of many of its properties, which culminated in a $454 million judgment.

“Ms. James was the sitting Attorney General of New York and is required by law to have her primary residence in the state of New York – even though her mortgage applications list her intent to have the Norfolk, VA, property as her primary home,” the letter stated.

“It appears Ms. James’ property and mortgage-related misrepresentations may have continued to her recent 2023 Norfolk, VA property purchase in order to secure a lower interest rate and more favorable loan terms.”

Citing my Letitia files article, Mortgage Fraud Alert: Did Letitia James Marry Her Father?, Pulte attached several documents showing that James purchased a property with her father as a co-mortgage borrower – but falsely listed the pair as “husband and wife” in 1983 and 2000. “While this was a long time ago, it raises serious concerns about the validity of Ms. James’ representations on mortgage applications,” he wrote.

Jonathon Turley commented to Laura Ingram, “she actually states that her father is her husband in order to file as a married couple. These are misleading statements. Either it’s your principal residence or it’s not. Or it’s not. Either you’re married to your father or he’s your father”.

The criminal referral letter also cites facts contained in my Letitia Files article Big Development: Is Letitia James Guilty of Mortgage Fraud?.

“A January 26, 2001 certificate of occupancy lists this property as having five units. On February 14, 2001, Ms. Letitia James purchased this five-family dwelling. Ms. James secured a conforming loan through the Fannie Mae/Freddie Mac Form 3033. Conforming loans are only available on 4 unit or less structures. Spanning the last two decades, Ms. James has consistently misrepresented the same property as only having four units in both building permit applications and numerous mortgage documents and applications”.

Pulte continued in the letter, “Ms. James may have listed the Brooklyn, NY property as four units instead of five units in order to meet the conforming loan requirements, and thus receive better interest rates. Ms. James also appears to have used this same falsification in order to receive mortgage assistance through HAMP.”

Laura Ingram commented, “In the New York matter, to get the favorable rate, the building could only have four units, but it looks like it’s entirely the entirety of this building, it had five units, meaning it was in violation of the actual loan agreement”.

Turley concluded by telling Ingram “If we apply the LaTisha James standard that she created, there’d be a little question here. This seems pretty straightforward. Obviously, the irony is perfectly crushing. This is a person who prosecuted Trump for everything short of ripping a label off a mattress.
