As the chicken sandwich wars continue to rage, a new contender has entered the arena: Wendy’s. The fast-food chain announced on Thursday that it would be releasing a new chicken sandwich, and now, customers can try one for free with a purchase at a participating location.

The new sandwich, dubbed the “Classic Chicken Sandwich,” will replace the Homestyle Chicken Sandwich on Wendy’s menu. The new Classic will feature a “premium all-white meat chicken breast that is juicy and crispy,” according to a Wendy’s statement, as well as mayonnaise, tomato, lettuce, and pickles on a toasted bun.

Customers can get a free Classic Chicken through Nov. 8 by making a purchase at a Wendy’s location, or making an order through the chain’s mobile app. Customers are allowed one free sandwich per week.

Since the launch of the Popeye’s hit chicken sandwich in August of 2019, a competition has been heating up in the fast-food industry. The “chicken sandwich wars” has inspired Twitter feuds, sold-out sandwiches, and even a stabbing over alleged line jumping. In the hopes of sharing in Chick-Fil-A and Popeye’s success, Kentucky Fried Chicken debuted a chicken and doughnut sandwich.

“We can’t wait for our fans to get their hands on the New Classic Chicken Sandwich which has the perfect crunch from breading and pickles paired with the juiciness and flavor of the fillet,” said Carl Loredo, Chief Marketing Officer for The Wendy’s Company.

In related chicken sandwich news, Whataburger and Burger King also recently added chicken sandwiches to their menu, and Popeye’s rode high during its parent company’s earnings on Tuesday. The company reported that year-over-year sales had declined at its Tim Horton’s and Burger King restuarants, but the losses were partially offset by an increase in sales at Popeye’s.
