Apple unveiled a new version of the iPad Pro on Tuesday, its top-of-the-line iPad optimized for work and productivity.

The announcement came during Apple’s first major product event of 2021 which, like the company’s events in 2020, was held virtually because of the pandemic.

There are two key updates to 2021’s iPad Pro: Its processor is getting upgraded to Apple’s in-house M1 chips, and its wireless connectivity is getting upgraded with 5G functionality. The new iPad Pro also comes with up to 2 TB of storage.

Apple last updated the iPad Pro in 2020 with a Lidar scanner, a sensor that measures depth and increases performance in augmented reality apps.

Sales of Apple’s iPad have seen a boost during the pandemic as professionals and students were required to work from home. In the fiscal quarter that ended in December, for example, iPad sales reached $8.4 billion compared to $5.9 billion during the same period in 2019.

The new iPad Pro starts at the same $799 that the previous model did, and is available for pre-order starting on April 30 with an expected launch window in the second half of May.
