Premier Annastacia Palaszczuk said one of the new cases was a 12-year-old boy who had tested positive on returning to Queensland days after completing hotel quarantine in Sydney.She said the father of the boy has also tested positive. The third case was a fully vaccinated international airport worker.“We are treating that as three cases in the community and we are a little bit concerned about that,” Ms Palaszczuk said.The Premier on Wednesday extended the mask rules for 11 local government areas in Queensland’s southeast due to the positives cases.“To avoid a lockdown, we just want to make sure we get on top of those cases and we want to make sure that we keep everybody safe,” she said.The council areas are Brisbane City Council, Logan, Moreton Bay, Ipswich, Redlands, Sunshine Coast, Gold Coast, Noosa, Somerset, Lockyer Valley and Scenic Rim.On Wednesday, Queensland Health were alerted by another country that a case of Covid-19 had been infectious while in the community, resulting in an alert being issued for an Ipswich shopping centre. The restrictions, including the mask mandate and dancing ban, were expected to ease at 6am on Friday but will now last for another seven days.In Townsville, Palm and Magnetic islands, the mask restriction will be removed this Friday.
