Apple is Still Signing iOS 15.1 and iPadOS 15.1 – Here’s How to Downgrade iOS 15.2 and iPadOS 15.2 Right Now

At the time of writing, Apple is singing iOS 15.1 and iPadOS 15.1 for both compatible iPhone and iPad models. This means you can simply use iTunes and Finder to downgrade to the older firmware from iOS 15.2 and iPadOS 15.2. But do keep in mind that once you downgrade, you will lose all your files and settings so make sure you have backed up everything before proceeding.

First and foremost, download and save the iOS 15.1 and iPadOS 15.1 firmware file to your desktop. Make sure you download the one compatible with your iPhone and iPad.

At this point, assuming that you backed up your data, connect your iPhone or iPad to your PC or Mac using a Lightning or USB-C cable, whichever is applicable to your device. Once the device is connected, you might be required to enter your device passcode and trust the computer you are connected to on your device, so please do so.

With that out of the way, launch Finder or iTunes, depending on whether you have a PC or Mac, or just running an older version of macOS. Once launched, you should see your device listed on the left hand side of the app UI. Click on it to reveal more options.

Now click on the Restore iPhone/iPad button in Finder / iTunes while holding down the left Shift key (Windows) or the left Option key (Mac). A new window will open up and at this point just select the iOS 15.1 or iPadOS 15.1 firmware file you downloaded to your desktop (or wherever) and let iTunes / Finder do its thing.

If everything was done correctly, your device will begin to restore itself and you should be able to start using it the moment you see the Hello screen.
