If you’re one of the millions who subscribe to Hulu, Disney+, or ESPN+, your Amex Platinum just got a lot more valuable.

When The Platinum Card® from American Express announced a huge overhaul to its benefits last year, one of the main features was its new “entertainment credit” — a monthly statement credit of up to $20 for various digital subscriptions**.

The big issue with this credit has been that it’s only valid for the following services:

  • Audible
  • Peacock
  • Sirius XM
  • The New York Times

The limited streaming partners made this benefit disappointing to many cardholders. But American Express has now added three more popular services, making it much easier to use.

You can now redeem the The Platinum Card® from American Express‘s monthly digital entertainment credit for the following new streaming services:

That makes this credit wildly more useful — in the US and Canada, Hulu has more than 45 million paid subscriptions, and Disney+ has more than 41 million paid subscriptions.

Up to $20 credit per month to offset these subscriptions equates to up to $240 per year. Bottom line

You can now use the The Platinum Card® from American Express‘s digital entertainment credit, worth up to $20 per month, for seven online subscriptions:

  • Hulu
  • ESPN+
  • Disney+
  • Audible
  • Peacock
  • Sirius XM
  • The New York Times

This credit is as good as cash if you spend at least $20 per month on these services anyway.

However, if you don’t subscribe to these websites, this credit is not as good as cash. Don’t talk yourself into applying for a credit card just because it offers free stuff. If the value the The Platinum Card® from American Express provides doesn’t fit into your lifestyle, it’s not worth the annual fee.
