Known as ‘The Buzz’ the forward played most of his career in Perth and had a huge impact in 65 games with the Blues in the early 80s.Kate Jesaulenko, daughter of Carlton legend Alex Jesaulenko, has started a fundraising page for the 63 year-old who is due to start chemotherapy soon. She wrote: “One of the legends of our club, has told me he has been diagnosed with cancer. After everything this man has been through, Mr Peter Bosustow has been diagnosed with rectal cancer, which has spread to his liver. He has been booked in for chemo in the coming weeks and has been told if he doesn’t do this, he has 12 months to live. After seeing my mother pass away in 10 days from diagnosis I have been given authority to raise funds for Buzz and his beautiful family, which they can’t afford. I am reaching out to all Football supporters, especially you Carlton people to help in any way you can, for Buzz, to beat this horrible disease and live a long and beautiful life with his beautiful wife, children and grand children.I understand the current climate however all you true Blue baggers need to give what you can, even $10, anything will help. God love you Buzz, you are family to all us Jesaulenko’s and we love you. X.”Last year Blues legends rallied around Bosustow after he was robbed of nearly $300,000.“I’m going through a really, really bad stage at the moment, I’ve just been robbed of nearly $300,000 with a scheme that has gone wrong,” he told SEN in February 2020.“We’re really doing it a bit tough over here at the moment.“I don’t really talk about it much because a lot of people have been helping me with it.“Alex Jesaulenko and Stephen Kernahan and Ken Hunter and David Parkin and these sorts of people have been really good in sending me over memorabilia that I can sell and try and survive.”The West Australian reported in June of 2019 that Bosustow was caught up in the collapse of lifetime home lease scheme Sterling First.Bosustow played in two premiership sides in Perth, and then crossed to Carlton where he kicked 146 goals, winning both mark and goal of the year in 1981. He was at the Blues from 1981-83 before returning to the WAFL from 1984 until his retirement from the game in 1987.To donate: mycause.com.au/p/262303/the-legend-peter-bosustow
